The Us Navy Has Installed 3D Systems Metal 3D Printers To Make Parts For Nuclear-powered Warships.

On May 14, 2018, 3D Systems announced the signing of a naval ship building agreement with Huntington Ingalls Industries, the largest U.S. military shipbuilding company, in a partnership aimed at building naval ships using metal materials.

The Newport news-building company (NNS) currently has the sole contract for the design, manufacture and refueling of U.S. navy aircraft carriers.As the largest industrial employer in Virginia, NNS is also a supplier of U.S. navy submarines.

"With the NEWPORT NEWS SHIPBUILDING cooperation, our 3 d printing solutions combined with our team expertise in metal 3 d printing technology will redefine naval vessel components of the supply chain to improve efficiency and lowers total operating costs."
