Titomic Launched The World's Largest 3D Metal Printer In Melbourne.
May 17, 2018

Titomic Kinetic Fusion not only makes a difference in making metal parts, but also prints them on a very large scale. The bus size 3D printer can print large titanium components - from golf clubs to complex airplane wing parts. It can also print metal bike frames in about 25 minutes.

In addition to its size, the Australian company's 3D printing process is running at an alarming rate.According to Jeff Lang, Titomic's chief executive and chief technology officer, the Titomic 3D printer can store about 45 kilograms of material per hour, 10 to 100 times faster than the fastest 3D printer on the market today. In addition, the rapidly printed objects are said to be about 34 percent stronger than titanium.

Titomic's goal is zero waste, using only the amount of metal needed to minimize environmental impacts and costs."We can make parts cheaper," says Jeff Lang."This provides an opportunity for the auto industry to use titanium more cheaply, and opens up opportunities for us to export high-quality parts globally."

Titomic announced this week that it had reached a memorandum of understanding with Fincantieri, one of the world's largest shipbuilders, to explore the use of Titomic Kinetic Fusion technology in the ocean.
